WELCOMING REMARKS

Your Excellences, Distinguished scholars, Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of this international conference organizer, I am pleased and honored to be amidst you to participate in Green, Smart, Development and Visions 2019 hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, organized by the International Technology Professional Program of Seoul National University, the International Technology Program of KAIST, Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, International Energy Policy Program of Seoul National University, Pusan National University, Busan Innovation Institute of Industry, Science & Technology Planning(BISTEP), Smart City Education Program of Seoul National University, and Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement(KAIA).

This year’s GSDV conference has expanded its role by inviting participation from diverse global experts and institutions. The first GSDV was held in 2011 as a venue for the students and ICT global experts to build networks and share knowledge. This year, the 9th GSDV will be significant since the event will offer us opportunities to envision a new future for global ICT. The drastic explosion of technology and digital applications that characterize the “4th Industrial Revolution” is changing the way we think, work, and live. Such revolution is driven by emerging breakthroughs with intelligent technology and amplified by the far-reaching connectivity between people with internet of things that provide unprecedented access to data and knowledge.

In this respect, it is meaningful to explore the emerging research topics relating to “Smart City Development and Digital Transformation” which is the theme of GSDV 2019.

We are very thankful to all of you, including the eminent keynote speakers Professor Young-Sang Kwon from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Seoul National University and Deputy Director Donovan Storey from Global Green Growth Institute. The honored guests who grace this year’s conference with their presence include President Byong-Jin Kim of BISTEP, Professor Eunnyeong Heo President of Korea Society of Innovation, Emeritus Professor Jang Gyu Lee from College of Engineering at Seoul National University, renowned ICT scholars and industry experts, MSIT officials, and diplomats of foreign embassies in Korea as well as faculty members and students.

Going forward, GSDV will stay committed to sharing the value of global ICT top-class education and research with the 4th Industrial Revolution Innovation leaders. Once again, I would like to offer my congratulations on the opening of GSDV 2019 Conference, and hearty welcome to all our guests.

Thank you and I wish you all a successful conference.
